THOUSAND PONDS

When our friends Denis and Jean-Baptiste, proud locals from the Territoire de Belfort, planned this outing, they never imagined that, in early May, they’d be rolling out the Vettes under a dusting of morning snow! Thankfully, the roads were clear — otherwise, the day might have taken quite a different turn.

The Plateau of the Thousand Ponds, shaped over 12,000 years ago by retreating glaciers, provided a perfect setting for a relaxed cruising experience, with local visits and tastings of regional delicacies. The day ended with the group gathered before the famous Lion of Belfort, sculpted by Auguste Bartholdi in 1879 — a memorable moment combining history, automotive passion, and warm camaraderie.
